2013 Triumph Speed Triple Review

2013 Triumph Speed Triple

We’d have preferred the exhaust muffler being routed beneath the seat instead of the stubby under body design which somehow makes the motorcycle look heavier. Going with the flow, the 2012 Triumph Speed Triple looks smaller than before, a design aspect that we’ve been noticing with most sport bikes, which seem to get smaller and smaller with each passing year. While the 2013 Triumph Speed Triple retains the inline 3 cylinder layout, it remains unknown whether the engine will be untouched.

Spain is where the folks at MCN managed to spot an under test Triumph Speed Triple, that should make for the 2013 model year. The motorcycle that has been spotted shows dramatic differences to the current Speed Triple in terms of the external styling and bodywork. Perhaps aimed straight at the MV Agusta Brutale 675, the Speed Triple now shows more aggressive lines on the outside although we can’t help but feel that the motorcycle’s tail section looks a bit ghastly.

The 2013 model year of the Triumph Speed Triple is now of added importance to India as Triumph is just about to start another chapter in its Exchequer history when it officially arrives into India with a model unveil at the upcoming 2012 Indian Auto Expo. The iconic British motorcycle brand will also begin assembling selected models at its Indian assembly unit and this move is expected to reduce prices of a few of Triumph’s motorcycles.

The 2013 Triumph Speed Triple could be one motorcycle model that will be assembled in India and thus assumes great importance as this motorcycle model could take on the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 650R and the Hyosung GT650R, delivering prospective sports bike buyers the proper exhaust wail that only an inline triple or inline four can deliver.
